Relay For Life

Hello! We have kicked into full relay mode! I hope you can join us for some of the fun things going on! For starters June 29th we are Painting the Town Purple! You will notice the purple lights and ribbons decorating the outside of the Moose. We do this to show a relay presence in town so that people know the relay is right around the corner! All the teams work hard hanging the purple ribbons and getting their yard signs out! When you come to the Moose take a minute to look over the ad signs.
The relay starts Friday July 10th at 10 am and continues 24 hours until 10 am Saturday July 11th. There are a lot of fun things going on in the 24 hours! We have a cake auction in the evening that is a lot of fun and has so many sweet treats to bid on. We will be selling chances on the corn hole boards displayed at the Moose. The winner will be drawn at the relay wrap up at approximately 9:30 am Saturday the 11th. These were generously donated by Mike Borischak. There is a signup sheet for walking on the board at the Moose. Please sign up to walk.
The annual Christmas in July basket party is July 19th at the Richland fire hall. We are in need of baskets and ticket sales. Tickets are available at the Moose. You can also drop baskets off there. We are doing a restaurant gift card tree so if it would be easier to just donate a restaurant gift card that would be great!
Thank you so much for your continued support and we’ll see you at relay!!
God Bless,
Susan Shaffer

Tom Beard Memorial Scholarship

The application deadline for this year’s Tom Beard Memorial Scholarship was June 1, 2015 and 12 applications were received. Award selection occurs by majority committee vote after all identifying information is removed from the data by the scholarship coordinator. Watch for further notice on the lodge board and upcoming newsletters regarding this year’s recipients.
The scholarship was started in 2012 to preserve Tom’s spirit of giving and is awarded to local high school seniors who, too, have a proven commitment to community service. Each year, a deserving high school senior that shows exemplary acts of community service will be awarded this scholarship.
In its first 3 years, the Tom Beard Memorial Scholarship provided $12,000.00 in scholarship monies to 8 deserving seniors. This year, 3 more scholarships at $1500.00 each will be awarded. Tom is missed by so many and this is a great way to keep his memory and work alive in all of us. Your support of the Tom Beard Memorial Scholarship is greatly appreciated.
