Relay for Life
We have the holidays behind us and are ready to jump into our relay year full force. We started in January by participating for the 3rd year in a row at the National Gob Day at the Galleria mall. We sold regular chocolate gobs, peanut butter filled chocolate gobs and pumpkin with cream cheese filling gobs. We enter the gob contest each year. Last year we didn’t place at all. This year our pumpkin with cream cheese filling took first place in the nontraditional category! We sold out of all of our gobs by 12:30 and took home a very nice plaque for winning! It was a good day. So many people work so hard making the gobs. It’s a very busy day that I personally enjoy. I love being in the kitchen with all my friends and fellow relayers. We chat and catch up and mostly laugh and have a fun time. I guess it’s the being together that I enjoy the most. Thank you to all who helped and thank you to the lodge for funding our efforts. A special thank you to SS Peter & Paul’s church for being so kind as to share their amazing kitchen with us! We couldn’t do it without all of you!
We will be taking orders for gobs in April so look for the signs at the lodge and for the posts on the Moose Facebook page. They really are quite good so you don’t want to miss out on ordering! The Bark for Life is at the Windber Recreation Park May 10th. More information will follow and there is also a Windber Bark for Life Facebook page that you can like. You will get all the latest information there. There is a lot going on that day and you don’t need a dog to come and check it out!
Luminaria’s are on sale so pick up those at the lodge. You can decorate them in honor or in memory of your loved one who has battled the terrible disease called cancer. Years ago you heard cancer and it was just that-something you heard about. Now we all know someone who has battled cancer. It’s a common word that is no longer just something you may have heard about. With all of our efforts we can make a difference and we are doing just that!
As always, thank you so much for your support of our relay team. I look forward to seeing you at the spaghetti dinner and the ugly Christmas sweater party!

God Bless,
Susan Shaffer

Moose Legion

The Moose Legion sent out retention letters to former Moose members who had let their membership lapse for between one and three years. We received several responses and gained back several members.
We had a successful pizza and wing party in conjunction with our January meeting held on the 21st. Thanks to all who attended.
The Legion is the first of the higher degrees, followed by the fellowship and pilgrim degrees. Our lodge's legion meeting is held on the third Tuesday of each month at 8PM in the upstairs meeting room. All legionnaires are welcome to attend and your input would be greatly appreciated.
Remember, no application fee through April 30, 2014.
